Rebecca (Mandy Moore) expresses misgivings about the procedure but decides to be supportive instead. Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) begin the process of adopting Deja (Lyric Ross). Additionally, Randall runs for city council with Jae-won Yoo (Tim Jo) as campaign manager and the newly laid-off Beth's grudging support. Meanwhile, Kevin (Justin Hartley) begins a relationship with Zoe (Melanie Liburd). They fly to Vietnam to piece together Jack's (Milo Ventimiglia) military service there. The flashbacks tell of Jack's time in Vietnam, his courtship with Rebecca, and how the Pearson family coped after his death. The flashforwards show the Big Three preparing to visit Rebecca.
